Marieta de Morais Dá Mesquita (1955–2011) was a distinguished Portuguese historian and researcher, recognized for her significant contributions to the study of architecture and urbanism. Born on April 20, 1955, she graduated in History from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon and earned her Ph.D. from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (UTL). As an Assistant Professor at UTL, she coordinated the Section of History and Phenomenology of Architecture and Urbanism, where she shaped the academic discourse on architectural historiography.

Mesquita's career bridged academia and research, dividing her time between the Faculty of Architecture at UTL and the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto. Renowned as a mentor, she supervised numerous master's dissertations and doctoral theses, including co-supervising integrated master's dissertations in architecture in her later years.

Her scholarly works reflect her expertise in the intersection of history and architecture. Among her notable publications are Revistas de Arquitectura: Arquivo(s) da Modernidade (2011), a comprehensive exploration of modern architectural archives, and her doctoral thesis, História e Arquitectura: Uma Proposta de Investigação – O Palácio dos Marqueses de Fronteira como Situação Exemplar da Arquitectura Residencial Erudita em Portugal (1992), a pivotal study of erudite residential architecture in Portugal. She also co-authored influential articles such as Casas Urbanas de Lisboa – Memórias e Metamorfoses and Uma releitura de um projecto de Ventura Terra através da Construção Moderna.

A member of the academic community dedicated to historical preservation and architectural scholarship, Mesquita was an influential voice in connecting historical narratives with modern architectural practices. Her work continues to inspire future generations of architects and historians. She passed away on October 31, 2011, leaving a legacy in Portuguese architectural research and education.
