Born in 1967, Pedro Rodrigues graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon in 1990. He later completed his Pedagogical Aptitude and Scientific Capacity examinations in 1999 and obtained a PhD in Architecture from the same institution in 2007. Registered with the Portuguese Order of Architects, Pedro Rodrigues has developed a professional and academic career characterized by the articulation between architectural practice, research, and higher education.
Since 1996, Pedro Rodrigues has been a member of the academic staff of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon, where he currently serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture. Throughout his academic career, he has held several institutional and pedagogical responsibilities, including President of the School Council of FA.ULisboa and Coordinator of the Integrated Master’s Degree in Architecture. He has also coordinated several curricular units within both the Master’s and Doctoral programs in Architecture, teaching design studios such as Project Laboratory VI and the Final Master’s Project.
In addition to his teaching activity, Pedro Rodrigues has participated extensively in academic research, editorial work, and international collaboration. He has published numerous articles and academic studies and served as a member of the editorial board of the Springer publication Planning for Climate Proof Cities (2017–2018). He has also acted as co-coordinator, organizer, and speaker in several national and international seminars and conferences, while supervising and participating in examination juries for Master’s, Doctoral, and Post-Doctoral research projects. His academic activity includes invitations as visiting professor at several international universities, reinforcing his engagement with contemporary architectural debate and pedagogical exchange.
Alongside his academic career, Pedro Rodrigues has maintained continuous professional practice. Since 1996, he has been the founder and managing partner of the architectural practice Pedro Rodrigues – Arquitetura Global, Lda, where he has coordinated and developed a wide range of architectural projects and works. His career reflects a sustained commitment to architectural education, professional practice, and the relationship between architecture, urbanism, and contemporary environmental challenges.
